Overview

NexusYard uses Google Maps for address autocomplete, geocoding, and plant-to-jobsite drive-time — so freight is priced on real distance, dispatch sees every load on a map, and leads plot by location. Drive-time feeds the freight calculator; if the route lookup isn't available, reps fall back to a manual mileage estimate.

Best for
Yards that price delivery by distance and want dispatch and freight to run off real addresses, not guesswork.
What's included
Address autocomplete on quotes and jobs
Real plant→site drive-time for freight pricing
A live dispatch and lead map
Manual-estimate fallback if a route can't be fetched
Uses the Google Maps JavaScript, Geocoding, and Routes APIs (your key). Fail-open — freight falls back to a manual mileage estimate if a lookup fails.
Why NexusYard + Google Maps Platform?

The data shows up where the work happens

Always current

Refreshed on a schedule, so you're working from today's data — not a spreadsheet someone exported last quarter.

Built into the workflow

It shows up where the work happens — the scale house, dispatch, the quote, the call sheet — not in a separate tool to remember.

Fail-open by design

If Google Maps Platform is briefly unavailable, nothing stops. Operations keep running and the data refreshes on the next successful pull.

No extra software

NexusYard runs the connection for you. There's nothing new for the crew to log into or maintain.

How it works

Set it up once, then it just runs

1Enter

Address autocomplete captures clean, geocodable jobsite addresses as quotes and jobs are created.

2Measure

Plant→jobsite drive-time and distance come back from the Google Routes API.

3Price

That mileage drives the freight-rate calculator for a defensible per-ton haul cost.

4See

Dispatch and the lead radar plot jobs and opportunities on a live map.

FAQ

Google Maps Platform integration questions

What is Google Maps used for in NexusYard?
Address autocomplete, geocoding, plant-to-jobsite drive-time for freight pricing, and the dispatch and lead maps.
Do I need my own Google key?
Yes — you supply a Google Maps Platform key with the Maps, Geocoding, and Routes APIs enabled; it's kept server-side for the routing calls.
What if the route lookup fails?
Freight pricing falls back to a manual mileage estimate, so a quote is never blocked by a maps hiccup.
